Hunt grew up in the Umpqua Valley. Before he furthered his education to become a school administrator, he taught science at Roseburg High, Sutherlin High and Mapleton High School in Mapleton, Oregon.

Hunt believes one of the greatest gifts children have in our country is a right to a free and appropriate public education and the ability to use that education to choose their path in life. In the words of Dr. Suess, “The more that you read, the more things that you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”

Hunt has a wife, Alesha, who is the counselor at Sutherlin MS, and two daughters who are both students in the district. In his spare time, Mr. Hunt enjoys spending time with his family and in the outdoors; camping, fishing, hunting, hiking, and riding ATVs.
